The idea of "The Anna Blanket" was born after Anna died. During the
many times she was in the hospital she would often receive a beautiful
blanket or soft toy. During these very difficult times, these gifts
would touch me and my husband greatly. I vowed to myself that when
Anna got better we would work together to give back. It would be my
and Anna's project.
After Anna died, I quickly realized that even though
it seemed my life had stopped in its tracks, life around me continued.
The first blanket I made was for a friend's daughter who'd been born during
Anna's illness. I didn't have the strength to go into a baby store so
instead I headed to the fabric store. One thing led to another and
"The Anna Blanket" was born."
It is my hope that these blankets
will bring hope, peace and be a constant reminder of the blessings in our
lives. 100 percent of the proceeds of the sale of these blankets go to
the Histiocytosis Association of America (HAA) for medical research.
Life isn't always what we expect of it, but Anna and I now have our
project and are making every attempt at giving back what we so lovingly were
given. Anna touched so many in her short life. She's no longer
here in person, but she keeps on giving - "The Anna Blanket", one of Anna's
many gifts.
